It's an email address.  You know how email works.  Your address is //username//@moonbeam.town, and can be used just like any other email address.

==== What can I do with it? ====

The same kinds of things that you can do with any email -- send and receive messages, either to other Moonbeam.town users or to people in the wider internets.

==== How do I get started? ====

Moonbeam.town uses the "Rainloop" webmail software, which can be accessed from your user control panel or by going to https://mail.moonbeam.town/.  You can also set up mail clients such as Thunderbird or K9 Mail to read your Moonbeam.town mail, using the following settings:

=== Incoming Mail ===

Moonbeam.town maintains IMAP mailboxes, which can be accessed with any standard email client using the following settings:

  * **Protocol:** IMAP
  * **Server:** moonbeam.town
  * **Port:** 993
  * **Encryption:** SSL/TLS
  * **Username:** //username// (do not include @moonbeam.town)

Depending on your mail client, you may be asked to manually approve the self-signed certificates used by Moonbeam.town's mail stack.  This is expected and safe.

=== Outgoing Mail ===

You can also use Moonbeam.town to send email via SSMTP.  You can use the following settings to do so via your email client:

  * **Protocol:** SMTP
  * **Server:** moonbeam.town
  * **Port:** 587
  * **Encryption:** STARTTLS
  * **Username:** //username// (again, do not include @moonbeam.town)

==== PGP Encryption ====

PGP is a way of sending encrypted messages that can't be read by third parties.  I'll write up a guide to using this eventually, but right now I have a baby to feed.
